SmartLynx Airlines - New Airline Retail Customer

Stockholm, December 16 2011.

SmartLynx Airlines is an airline owned by Iceland Air. SmartLynx Airlines has bought Inflight Service’s airline retail concept during the winter 2011-2012. During this time, Smartlynx will operate Copenhagen-Goa. The startup process has taken less than one week and the first flight left Kastrup Airport the 15th of December.

Inflight Service appoints new CEO

Stockholm, March 16 2011.

Inflight Service has appointed Björn Ulfberg as new Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. Mr Ulfberg has significant experience in sales, marketing and general management from various international consumer and retail oriented organisations, including Nokia, Duni, Findus, Gillette and Procter & Gamble. “I am excited to join Inflight Service to, together with the rest of the management and employees, continue the development and growth of the company. I am also excited to have the opportunity to utilise my experiences from FMCG and retailing within the Travel Retail industry.” says Mr Ulfberg. 

The board welcomes Mr Ulfberg to the company and thanks the retiring CEO Per Thelin for his dedicated work.

Inflight takes over Travel Retail at Stockholm Skavsta Airport

Stockholm, 1 March 2010.

Following a recently concluded bid process, Stockholm Skavsta Airport’s has awarded Inflight Service Europe the contract for management and operations of the airport’s airside travel retail shop, “Buy & Fly”.  The contract will be effective as of 1 May 2010.

The airport itself has operated the shop up to now, with Inflight Service as its chief supplier of goods.

The shop will undergo complete redesign and refurbishing in conjunction with the change of management.

- In view of our long-standing cooperation with SSA that dates back to 1995, we are of course very pleased to have been entrusted with the full responsibility for the shop operation, comments Peter Candell, Director Business Development at Inflight Service. We look forward to taking an active part in increasing the passenger service level by providing an enhanced product offer and an improved overall shopping environment. The planning for the creation of a new and better shop is already in progress, concludes Peter Candell.

- We are very pleased to have finalised this process, says Joakim Lindholm, Stockholm Skavsta Deputy CEO. Not only the management, but also the shop staff, which will be adopted by Inflight Service, see great potential in the new arrangement. It’s however the airport’s passengers that will be the biggest winners, profiting from a new bigger and much more attractive shop.

Inflight Service Awarder SAS Outsourcing Contract

Stockholm, 19 May 2009.

Inflight Service Europe AB (IFS) has been awarded the outsourcing contract for the SAS Group's on board retail operation. The contract entrusts IFS with full operational responsibilities for all three of the SAS' on board retail channels: Cloudshop, Flightshop and Preorder.

IFS counts among Northern Europe's leading suppliers of services and goods for the travel retail industry with many of the region's most renowned airlines, airports and ferry lines as its customers.

– The new arrangement creates mutual prerequisites for optimising customer service, profitability and consequently the result at large. SAS will benefit from Inflight Service's full travel retail expertise and experience and thereby maximise it’s on board sales channels: Cloudshop, Flightshop and Preorder, says Gustaf Ljunggren, CEO of Inflight Service Europe AB.

IFS were singled out as SAS preferred partner following an extensive evaluation process, in which the overall commercial performance became a decisive factor for SAS' choice.

SAS has already for several years relied upon IFS for purchasing and supply of travel retail goods for it’s on board and pre-order sales. The now entered arrangement extends and deepens the collaboration to encompass all sides of the on board retail activities, and also to include the Cloudshop offer of food, drinks and snacks.

The total contract value amounts to 4, 5 milliard SEK, with an annual turnover of approximately 500 million during a 5-year period with an optional extension of two plus two years. The contract will be effective as of the fourth quarter 2009.
